Chick-fil-A: ‘Pay-by-Phone’ in Tulsa
Diners at Chick-fil-A restaurants in Tulsa no longer need to rely solely on cash or a credit card to pay for their meals. The Atlanta-based restaurant chain is rolling out a new mobile payment system at the Tulsa Chick-fil-A locations that enables customers to use their smartphones to pay for meals via a special Chick-fil-A App feature.
Chick-fil-A customers can download the free App from the iTunes App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android devices. Once the app is downloaded, customers can register for an account and load funds onto their account using credit card information. When customers are ready to pay, they simply tap the “Pay” button and scan their account’s unique Quick Response Code (QR code) at the register or drive-thru lane. The cost of the meal will be automatically deducted from the account balance.
“It’s no secret that the marketplace is turning to mobile solutions,” said Michael Lage, manager of Chick-fil-A’s mobile strategy. “Mobile Payment gives customers a convenient, personalized way to interact with Chick-fil-A and it helps us customize their experience and care for them personally.” Lage added that Chick-fil-A has outfitted each of the participating restaurants with special scanners that also will allow for faster and easier transactions.
The mobile payment system is rolling out nationally after its initial successful test in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. markets earlier this year.
While the mobile payment function is limited to select markets, all Chick-fil-A customers have access to the current app features, including menu and nutrition information, an allergen filter, restaurant location finder and more.
