Early Settlement Volunteer of the Year named

Tulsa County Early Settlement Mediation is proud to announce that Tulsa volunteer Eduardo Mora was selected as the Oklahoma Early Settlement Volunteer of the Year by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Mr. Mora was selected from dozens of nominees from counties throughout Oklahoma.

Mr. Mora has volunteered as a mediator in Tulsa for fourteen years, where he is one of only a few bi-lingual mediators. He has mediated hundreds of cases in many areas of mediation practice including basic mediation, family, guardianship and others.

Mora was nominated by LeiLani Armstrong, the director of Tulsa Early Settlement.  “As a person and as a friend, there’s none finer than Eduardo,” said Armstrong.  “When you hear that 80% of the work out there is done by 20% of the people, Eduardo is definitely in the 20%.  We are so very proud of him and thankful for his service.”

Mora, a native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent, is active in the Tulsa community.  He has volunteered for countless organizations including the Greater Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Oktoberfest, Festival Hispano, American Red Cross, YWCA and St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church.

Tulsa’s Early Settlement program is a collaborative partnership between Tulsa County, the City of Tulsa and the Supreme Court of Oklahoma.  In 2014, 1,214 cases were handled through mediation or settlement conference.  Through the efforts of the small staff and dozens of volunteers, much time and many resources of the court system are saved each year.
