Endorsement for Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett
Mayor Dewey Bartlett Jr.
Opinion: Consider that on local, state, national and international levels the political question has become, “Is government working for us or just working us? Does it benefit ruling elitists or the rest of us? (See Bexit, Trump and Sanders for detail.)
Do we need ruling elite in Tulsa? They seem to think so and the move to nonpartisan municipal elections has greatly empowered the elitist among us as shown in G.T. Bynum's challenge of Mayor Dewey Bartlett.
G. T. Bynum
First time candidate for mayor, G.T. Bynum, has always worked in government; as an employee, a lobbyist and as city councilor. His eight years of council service are most notable for self-aggrandizement with Bynum’s personal ambition and sense of entitlement repeatedly shown to be far bigger than his britches. Many remember his grandfather as a good mayor, but that was decades ago.
Bynum (registered Republican) has the support of former-mayor-Democrat operative Kathy Taylor and cronies who gave Tulsa budgets of bankruptcy to fund a fancy city hall and demanding city unions.
Judy Eason McIntyre
One of the television advertisements for Bynum featured former-state senator Judy Eason McIntyre who most famously saw a sign in an audience at a rally she organized that said, “If I wanted the government in my womb, I’d F**k a Senator.” McIntyre thought that was so funny that she asked for the sign so she could hold it on stage for all to see.
Apparently she believes killing unborn babies for body parts inconsequential. Bring on the clowns.
While many personally appreciate Bynum, Tulsa Today believes he is not the right choice for Tulsa Mayor this cycle. There is a difference between Democrats and Republicans in many issues of significant substance and those who claim there is not are clearly the “ruling” or want-to-be elite.
Mayor Dewey Bartlett is a better choice for Tulsa Mayor. That doesn’t mean all of Bartlett’s policies or key staff are favored by conservatives, but he consistently represents the people. Bartlett listens and advocates in favor of regular folk on public safety issues, in union negotiations and general municipal leadership.
Former-U.S. Senator Tom Coburn endorses Bartlett writing, "Dewey Bartlett has a lifetime of business experience which is really unique in politics today. The result of his maturity and experience is quite evident in how effectively he has managed Tulsa."
Bartlett holds 30 years’ experience as a business owner. Bartlett served in the Air National Guard and in many local charitable efforts. Bartlett has served Tulsa honorably for over six years as Mayor. He has a good heart. Bartlett has earned our admiration, respect and should be elected to another term.
