Mayor Kicks-Off 2009 Tulsey Awards
Mayor Kathy Taylor kicked off the 2009 "Tulsey Awards" on Wednesday to recognize pioneers and innovators of the community.
The nominating process opened up online Wednesday and runs through Oct. 7. Nominations can be made through the Tulsey website, www.thetulseys.com. Voting for the nominees will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 14 and will end at midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
There are 10 categories: Civic, Emerging, Entertainment, Franchise, Green, Interactive, Legend, Serial, Young and the new category for 2009, Restaurateur. All entrepreneurs nominated in the public voting process will automatically be entered into the Entrepreneur of the Year category.
"Tulsa's economy and its spirit have always been based on the passion of entrepreneurs," Taylor said. “It is also important to honor those who have and are making a difference through the entrepreneurial risks they take. This second year of the Tulseys honor those who have built a foundation for our entrepreneurialism and those who are continuing to build the future.”
The Tulsey Award winners will be announced at the Tulseys celebration on Thursday, Nov. 19, at the world-famous Cain’s Ballroom from 7 – 11 p.m. Sponsorship packages are available for the event. For more information, visit www.thetulseys.com.
