Oilers Split Road Trip; Prepare For Big Home Weekend

The reversal of fortune continues for the Tulsa Oilers Hockey Club.

At this point in the season last year, the Oilers had a dismal 2-5-1 record   It was well into November before the team had won a game at home.  What a difference a year, a new coach and new players have made on the ice at the amazing BOK Center this season.  

As of now the Tulsa Oilers have five wins and three losses and sit nicely at two points out of the top spot in the Central Hockey League's Northern Conference, after splitting a road trip last week, losing to the defending champion Texas Brahmas 5-3 on Saturday night, and mounting a come-from behind 6-5 win against the Mississippi Riverkings on Tuesday night.

A lot of the team's success comes from the offensive firepower found in their #26, Rob Hisey.  Hisey is enjoying an incredible start to the season and has been honored as both a CHL Player of the week and player of the month for the month of October.  Close on his heels comes the play of winger T.J. Caig, who occupies the wing on Hisey's line.  

Together, the pair has combined for virtually all of the goals the Oilers have scored so far and there's no sign of them letting up.  Kevin Armstrong continues to perform well in goal, and the defense led by player-assistant coach Tyler Butler continues to improve with every game.  Moreover, the team is playing AS a team, unlike a year ago when the Oilers appeared to many fans as a team of individuals going through the motions.  It's a testament to coach Bruce Ramsay and his leadership style that has kept the boys in blue in the game each and every night they've played.

Tulsa could be in sole possession of first place in the conference after this weekend should they win this Friday and Saturday night.  Good seats are available at the BOK Center box office, at tulsaoilers.com and at all Reasors grocery stores.
