Arenacross roars into T-town.
TULSA, OK--It’s going to be loud in the amazing BOK Center on Saturday night.
It’s not because the dream concert of Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax are coming to town, and it’s not because the Oilers are having a big game either. No, friends the AMA Arenacross series is going to plow it’s way into Cesar Pelli’s masterpiece and stay for a couple of noisy nights this weekend.
For the uninitiated, Arenacross is the sport of motocross where a full motocross course is downsized to fit in a basketball or hockey arena. Purists will be quick to tell you that Arenacross is not Supercross, which is big enough to fit in baseball and football stadiums. It is a sport well suited to TV and broadcast media and last years event at the BOK drew a fine crowd indeed.
Fans are guaranteed a night filled with speedy motorcycles careening around the custom course and sailing high into the air and riders compete for a points championship not unlike that of NASCAR and Indy Car racing. The weekend’s feature attraction will be Saturday night when the professionals on the tour compete for the points, and Sunday morning is reserved for the amateur ranks to show their stuff. Showtimes are at b7:30pm on Saturday and 10:00am on Sunday.
Tickets for both nights can be purchased at the BOK Center box office and at arena cross.com. There is a special discount for kids at only $10 a seat for ages 14 and under.
