Senator Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) is retiring in remarkable honesty that is not really that surprising for Bayh, but very refreshing. Ridiculing congressional job creation, Bayh said, "If I could create one job in the private sector by helping to grow a business, that would be one more than Congress has created in the last six months.”
There may still be hope for the Democrat Party.
Bayh has about 10 months more in his term and with any luck he may provide some alternative or at least a few revealing comments on the Progressive/Socialist agenda pushed with abandon by national Democrats since the election of President Obama.
Bayh, a centrist Democrat from Indiana, announced Monday that he won't seek a third term in Congress, giving Republicans a chance to pick up another Senate seat.
"To put it in words I think most people can understand: I love working for the people of Indiana, I love helping our citizens make the most of their lives, but I do not love Congress," Bayh said at a news conference in Indianapolis, where he was joined by his wife and two sons.
Bayh informed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., of his plans in a telephone conversation Monday morning, according to party insiders. This is a remarkable indication that the partisan rancor Bayh notes is as much within the Democrat party as with Republicans. Typically such decisions are known by party leadership well in advance.
Democrat Party loyalists were quick to return fire. An unidentified Democratic aide is quoted saying,“It is hard to stomach lectures from Sen. Bayh on jobs. For most Americans, if they were as unproductive in their jobs as Bayh has been in his, they wouldn’t have the luxury of quitting — they would be fired.”
Double Ouch!
If Bayh speaks with such openness announcing his retirement … imagine the possibilities for further truth in politics as oxymoron-ish as that may sound.
By registration, Oklahoma has been overwhelmingly Democrat since statehood, but votes Conservative more often than not. Can there be a place for Democrats who believe in limited government, fiscal responsibility and national defense within the Democrat party? Not without leadership willing to stand, question and, as necessary, rebuke the policies now pushed by this administration and congressional leadership.
Without such an alternative, the future of the Democrat Party is in serious doubt nationwide. But the "Chicago Style Democrat Operatives" now in “party on” mode within the White House are not going to allow much of that – dead fish delivered are more their style.
The secret long known by journalists nationwide is what Nancy Pelosi calls “AstroTurfing” is a political imaging activity the Left in general and the Democrat Party in particular has used for decades. Journalists have ignored easy investigations that would have revealed that those demonstrations were manipulated because most national journalists are believers in the “greater collective good” or socialism as history calls it.
Not so with the Tea Party efforts and coherent Democrats know it. Average Americans are paying attention to politics at a level much greater than during times of expanding prosperity. Upon their own close review; growing numbers of taxpayers believe current massive government spending risks economic collapse. Senator Byah’s decision is a solid indicator the elite political class is also getting the message and outside of the system he may have an unique opportunity to save his party from an ideological wasteland and total collapse.
