Talons beat Wings 52-48.
Talons improve to 5-3 and grab first road win of season.
BOSSIER CITY, LA--The monkey of being a team that can only win at home was shrugged off the backs of the Tulsa Talons players as they defeated the Bossier Shreveport Battle Wings 52-48 at the CenturyTel Center last Saturday night. The road win snapped a 6 game road losing streak and put the division leading Tulsa team two games above .500 for the first time this season.
The Talons had no easy time of it in Louisiana.
Tied at halftime, the two teams battled hard to a low score by arena football standards. Talons QB Justin Allgood threw for 284 yards and seven touchdowns with one interception. Odie Armstrong rushed for a TD and Donovan Morgan caught 8 passes for 131 yards and four touchdowns. Jeff Hughley scored two touchdowns, including a 40 yard bomb that sealed the game for Tulsa with 9:24 to go in the final quarter. Carlese Franklin caught 3 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively the Talons sacked Battle Wing QB Gary Cooper 3 times and intercepted him once. The Talons offensive line protected Allgood very well, as he wasn't sacked all game. In the end though the short scoreboard the win was a good one for the Talons, getting them set for a new challenge at home against Orlando on Saturday night.
