Shock completes trade with Liberty
The Tulsa Shock have been active on and off the court the past couple of weeks. Yesterday the team announced that they acquired Tiffany Jackson from the New York Liberty in exchange for Plenette Pierson. Pierson was one of just three holdouts remaining on the Shock roster from their days in the motor city.
Jackson, a 6'3" forward from the University of Texas, is in her fourth year of service in the WNBA all of which she has spent in New York. She holds a career average of 5.9 points per game, and enjoyed her best season in 2008 when she averaged 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for the Liberty. Jackson holds a career field goal percentage of 45.6 percent through an average of 15.6 minutes per game.
Pierson is in her eighth year as a professional, having spent the last six seasons with the Shock franchise. She is a two-time WNBA champion, winning titles in 2006 and 2008 while with Detroit. Through eight games with Tulsa, Pierson averaged 12.1 points per game while coming off of the bench.
The Tulsa Shock have a pair of games this weekend with the Minnesota Lynx. On Friday they travel to Minnesota for a 7 p.m. tip-off, before returning to Tulsa for a 7 p.m. rematch on Saturday night at the BOK Center. Tickets for all future Shock games are on sale at the BOK Center box office, online, or by calling 599-WNBA.
