Shock team with Livestrong Foundation to 'block out cancer'

The Tulsa Shock announced today that they will be teaming with the Livestrong Foundation during Friday's contest with the New York Liberty at the BOK Center to host 'Blockin' Out Cancer' night. Warren Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine will be passing out free first aid kits to the first 2,000 fans to enter the arena. 

Livestrong Foundation was established in 1997 by seven-time consecutive Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. On October 2, 1996 Armstrong was diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer which spread to his abdomen, lungs and brain. He later went on to beat the disease and formed the foundation that has to date raised more than $325 million.

Volunteers from the foundation will also be on hand passing out the iconic yellow Livestrong  wristbands to the first 5,000 fans that enter the building. They will also be hosting a memory wall where fans can write personal notes in honor of loved ones impacted by cancer.

KIDS GET IN FREE FRIDAY

Friday's game is also the first of two kids-get-in-free games. All children 16 and younger will receive a free ticket with the purchase of at least one adult ticket. Game time is 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.
