Talons look to ground the Battle Wings Saturday night
After a timely bye week to let their wounds heal coach Mitch Allner and the Tulsa Talons (7-6) are ready to get back to work against the Bossier Shreveport Battle Wings (3-10) in the amazing BOK Center on Saturday night.
The Talons were dominant in their win over the Cleveland Gladiators on June 26th at the BOK, defeating them 65-44. Saturday's game will be the second meeting between the Talons and the Wings, with the Black and Blue posting a 52-48 victory in the CenturyTel Center on May 29th. Tulsa leads the all time series with Bossier 12-2. The Talons have won seven straight at home against Shreveport.
Saturday's contest will feature two of the league’s top three all purpose yardage leaders. The Battle Wings P.J. Berry is 2nd in the league with 2481 yards and the Talons Jeff Hughley is 3rd with 2085 yards. It will also feature the return of former Talons back up quarterback Jimmy Welker who is the current starter for the Battle Wings. Welker is 0-2 as the Battle Wings starter with 449 passing yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions.
Saturday is Tackle Cancer night presented by 2 Works for You. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to help find a cure for cancer. Arby’s is also offering coupons for 2 for 1 tickets to the game. Go by and eat at any Tulsa area Arby’s and you will receive the discount coupon.
TALONS 7TH IN COACHES POLL FOR 3RD WEEK IN A ROW.
The Tulsa Talons remained in 7th position in this week’s Coaches Poll for the third straight week after having a bye last Saturday. The Talons topped the Cleveland Gladiators by 3 points to hold onto the 7th spot behind the Milwaukee Iron.
