Oilers bring in a gusher.
Tulsa Oilers sign three forwards and shift to the South for 2010-11.
TULSA, OK-- At this point of the summer, hockey news is pretty scarce at best but when news does come, it usually has some impact.
OILERS SIGN 3 FORWARDS.
Tulsa Oilers head coach Bruce Ramsay continues building the 2010-11 team by announcing the signing of three players who played extensively in the
Central Hockey League last year. Ramsay has announced he has signed right wing Dan Riedel, left wing Jeff Gumaer both from last year’s
Oilers’ team, and forward Chad Costello who played for Corpus Christi last season.
Dan Riedel, joined the Oilers four games into last season and scored a goal in his first game. The 5-foot-9, 177 pounder from Rochester Hills,
Mich., appeared in 52 games scoring 18 goals (three ga
me winners) and 23 assists for 41 points.
Jeff Gumaer, from Webster Groves, Mo., also scored a goal in his first game with the Oilers at Laredo on December 27th. In his 35 games, the 5-10,
185 pounder had six goals and four assists for 10 points and was +6.
Chad Costello, 5-9, 170 pounds was nearly a point a game player last season for Corpus Christi, with 13 goals and 42 assists for 55 points in 57
games. He was also +10. Although the Oilers didn’t play Corpus Christi last season, he’s hardly a stranger to Ramsay.
In 2008-09, Costello played 65 games for Muskegon in the International Hockey League, when Ramsay was coaching that team. He had 17 goals and
29 assists for 46 points in 65 games.
“Our fans could see the hard work that Dan and Jeff bring to the rink every night, and they’re going to like what they see from Chad, too,”
Ramsay said.

TULSA JOINS CHL SOUTH FOR THE 2010-11 SEASON.
The CHL office in Tempe, Arizona announced the the conferences that the teams play in will be realigned for the 2010-2011 campaign. With the addition of five teams from the former International Hockey League now in the fold, the boundaries are better defined.
The new conference alignment will split the teams into two conferences of nine teams with the conference reflecting the geography of the North and South. In the very near future, the two conferences will be given names reflective of the histories of both the CHL and IHL and new trophies will be introduced for the conference champions, the regular season champions and the league champions.
“We are very excited about the divide between the two conferences and feel the balance and rivalries created will be great for all fans,” said Duane Lewis, CHL Commissioner. “Followers of both the CHL and IHL will enjoy the introduction of new teams as opponents and the formation of new rivalries.”
