Mystics beat Shock 87-62

A slow start doomed the Tulsa Shock Sunday, as the Washington Mystics handed them their seventh straight loss by a score of 87-62. Monique Currie and Katie Smith had 15 points each to lead six double-digit scorers for the Mystics. Tiffany Jackson was the high-scorer for Tulsa with 14 points.

Washington jumped out to the early lead, hitting four of nine three-pointers to outscore Tulsa 25-9. The Mystics expanded their lead to 33-9 early in the second quarter, eventually taking a 44-25 lead into half-time.

The onslaught continued in the second half, with Washington outscoring Tulsa 21-14 in the third quarter. The Shock managed to outscore the Mystics 23-22 in the final quarter, but it was too little, too late as Washington walked away with the 25-point victory.

Washington won big despite shooting just 41-percent from the field. In comparison, Tulsa shot just 34-percent while committing 18 turnovers.

The Shock return home Tuesday for another tough contest as they will play host to the WNBA-leading Seattle Storm. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at the BOK Center. With just three home games remaining on the season, Tuesday's game will be the last chance for fans to see the Shock in Tulsa until they return home from a three-game road trip for a contest with the Los Angeles Sparks on August 14.
