Sun burns Shock 90-62

It was another frustrating night for the Tulsa Shock as the Connecticut Sun handed them a 90-62 loss on Tuesday night. Renee Montgomery scored 22 points while rookie Tina Charles notched her WNBA-record 21st double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Scholanda Robinson scored 18 points for Tulsa, who fell to 5-27 after shooting 28.9 percent from the field.

This loss is the fifth straight for the Shock and tenth out of the last 11. Tulsa has seen losing streaks of 12 games and seven games this season, both coming after they started out with a record of 3-3. Their last win came against the Seattle Storm on August 3.

Connecticut led by as many as 16 points in the first half before Tulsa battled back within seven at the half. Unfortunately for the Shock, a disappointing second half would doom them once again. Tulsa connected on just six of 20 attempts in the third quarter as Connecticut pulled away for a 17 point lead at the break. The Sun then outscored the Shock 24-13 in the final quarter as Tulsa suffered through a period of more than four minutes in which they did not complete a shot from the field.

Shanna Crossley and Marion Jones each added 10 points for the Shock, which had just three double-digit scorers. Asjha Jones contributed 18, while Sandrine Gruda and Tan White had 13 points apiece for the Sun who evened their record at 16-16. 

The Shock travels to New York for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff with the Liberty (20-11) on Thursday. They return home to host the Chicago Sky (14-18) on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the season finale. Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the BOK Center box office, online, or by calling 599-WNBA.
