Tulsa-based grassroots organization, Young Professionals of Tulsa (YPTulsa), unveiled its latest promotional campaign: “Tulsa – A New Kind of Energy” Thursday, to a cheering crowd at Bartlett Square downtown. Inspired by Tulsa’s rich history and unlimited potential “it is our desire is to acknowledge those entrepreneurs and visionaries who are playing a role in re-inventing the heart of our region,” says Laura Chalus, Executive Director of YP Tulsa.
Tulsa produced large banners with the campaign logo for display on each of the buildings vying for the City of Tulsa Downtown Housing funds – $9.3 million from Vision 2025 to support additional market rate housing within the core district of the city.
“We honor those committed to transforming our city into a strong core and look to creating a positive future for downtown Tulsa. Look up as you visit and walk around downtown and you’ll see banners on many of the buildings that have been renovated by forward-thinking owners who have a vision for a vibrant downtown. As young professionals in Tulsa, we support projects that support renovation and revitalization of the downtown area,.” said Scott Cooksey, member of the YP Tulsa Advisory Council.
The City issued a “Request for Proposals” and ten were received by the proposal deadline December 7, 2005. Those proposals are currently under consideration by a City Vision 2025 committee which is expected to advance their recommendations to the Oversight Committee in early March.
YP Tulsa members say they celebrate the entrepreneurs and investors of today who have put their money to work in Tulsa. These visionaries are making a difference in the future of Tulsa and we congratulate them on their efforts. They are each generating a New Kind of Energy several of the group said.
Many YP Tulsa members work downtown and about a dozen rode bicycles to the event.
