Bad Company set to rock The Joint
"Company, always on the run..." If you didn't follow those words by singing the next line from the 1974 classic, self-titled song "Bad Company", you are lying.
The English super-group from the 70's is back on the run in 2010, and on Thursday night Bad Company makes a run through Green Country as they are set to perform at the brand new concert facility at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa. The Joint opened last week with the timeless Doobie Brothers, and now prepares to play host to another mainstay of the classic rock period.
Bad Company, led by Paul Rodgers is undoubtedly one of the most successful acts of the 1970's with their hits "Bad Company", "Shooting Star", "Feel Like Making Love", and "Can't get Enough" to name a few. The group has seen a few changes over the years, but Rodgers is back at it again with original members Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke.
Their 1974 self-titled debut album hit platinum five times and the group never looked back. In 1975 they released their triple-platinum album "Straight Shooter" which became their second straight album to hit number one on Billboard's pop album charts. The group called it quits after the release of 1982's "Rough Diamonds".
Bad Company has taken on several different looks since 1982, but in August, 2008 the remaining original line-up reunited for a show in Florida. Since then, Rodgers, Ralphs and Kirke have performed a handful of shows in the United States and UK. Thursday's show is listed as the group's last U.S. show before they embark on a six-show tour in Japan later this month.
It would be easy to go on forever about the history of Bad Company and their contributions to rock and roll, but this will be one show where the music will best tell the tale. Limited tickets are still available on-line at The Joint's website or by calling 918-384-ROCK. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show-time is set for 7:30 p.m.
