Thunder rolls over Chicago in opener 106-95.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK-- Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 58 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Chicago Bulls 106-95 in the Oklahoma City Arena last night in front of 18,203.
Durant had 30 points and Westbrook 28 with 10 boards and six assists. Chicago’s Derrick Rose had 28 points and Joakim Noah turned in an 18 point performance with 19 rebounds.
The 4th quarter was the real truning point in the game for Oklahoma City. With 5:49 left in the game, Bulls guard Kyle Korver hit an 18-foot jumper. From that point on Chicago hit just 1 of 9 shots and turned the ball over three times, spurring OKC to a 14-2 run and the win.
"Our 4th quarter defense, I just couldn't ask for better. It's the best we've played in month." Thunder coach Scott Brooks said after the game. The Thunder defense held the Bulls to just 25 percent shooting in the fourth quarter. Chicago turned the ball over four times in the last 12 minutes and OKC blocked four shots.
The Thunder will travel to the Palace of Auburn Hills to take on the Detroit Pistons on Friday night and then it’s back to the Oklahoma City Arena for a Halloween matchup with the Utah Jazz.
