Oilers burn out in Missouri 4-2.

Reed scores two as Tulsa drops 7th straight game.

INDEPENDENCE, MO.-- Surviving a near disaster failed to light a fire under the Tulsa Oilers on the road on Friday night.

While en route to the game tonight in Independence against the Missouri Mavericks, the Oilers bus burst into flames just off the Claremore exit of the Will Rogers Turnpike. All of the players and staff were evacuated and no one was hurt, but the incident guaranteed a later start time once the team arrived aboard a replacement motor coach.

The Oilers struck first at 4:55 of the first period when Harrison Reed scored off assists by Chad Costello and John Mori. The Maverick answered with nearly 5 minutes to go on a power play goal by Dominic DAmour assisted by Mike Berry.

Missouri would take the lead on a Ryan Jardine goal at 4:50 of the 2nd period with Nick Sirota and Tab Lardner assisting. They would push the lead to 3-1 on a goal at 14:48 by Mike Berry assisted by Cole Ruwe and DAmour.

Harrison Reed would get the 2nd and final goal for the Oilers at 16:41 assisted by Chad Costello.

The Mavericks converted a penalty shot with 3:29 remaining with Toby Lafrance putting the puck in behind Tyler Sims.

Sims would stop 32-of-36 shots while his counterpart Garry Festa would go 27-of-29 for the Mavericks. The power play drought continues for the Oilers as they went 0-5 with the extra attacker while Missouri went 1 for 5 on the PP.

The Oilers will travel to the DeSoto Convention Center to take on the Riverkings at 7:05pm. The next home game for Tulsa will be on November 18th against the Allen Americans at 7:05 in the BOK Center.
