GWAR returns to Tulsa Tuesday night
Are you ready for a rock-n-roll show like you've never seen before? If so, then clear your schedule for Tuesday night. Thrash-metal band GWAR returns to Tulsa as they look to destroy the Cain's Ballroom in only a way they can do.
The self-proclaimed sickest band in metal history will be partying with a few thousand friends as they celebrate the release of their newest album "Bloody Pit of Horror" which is due out on the day of the show. The group, known for it's sci-fi/horror inspired costumes, formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1984. Twenty-six years later, they are still at it - "Bloody Pit of Horror" is their twelfth studio album and is their second to feature eight-string guitars.
To date the group has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Their stage show, which has been described as something you experience rather than see, is unmatched by any other band. Anything goes while on stage and members of the audience are fair game.
The crowd is sprayed throughout the show by fluids mocking blood as they chop appendages off of props. GWAR also brings along some comedy with their show - They have poked fun at every president since Ronald Reagan. Their comedy touches on the bounds of politically and morally taboo themes while also making fun of other celebrities.
Make no mistake, this will be one heavy rock show. This show, however, is one that you must see if you miss the days of theatrical rock shows such as those put on by Alice Cooper.
New York City's The Casualties and Tampa, Florida's Infernaeon will open the show that starts at 7:30 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $22.25 in advance and $25 the day of the show. For more ticket information visit the Cain's Ballroom webpage.
