The Oklahoma Route 66 Association invites you to join them for an all-vehicle poker run and children’s trivia contest celebrating the Mother Road’s 80th anniversary Saturday, April 22, 2006.
Kick off and registration will begin at 9a.m. at Ollie’s Station Restaurant located at 4070 SW Boulevard in Tulsa (telephone: 918-446-0524). The cost for three poker hands is $17.00 with each additional “poker hand” costing $5.00.
There is no limit for the number of hands a person can play. The all day poker run includes stops at Sunrise Grill in Sapulpa; Russ’ Ribs and Granny’s Emporium in Bristow; Spangler’s Grocery in Depew; as well as Shoe Tree Trading Post and Rock Cafe both located in Stroud. The event will conclude at 2p.m. at the StableRidge Winery in Stroud.
The Poker Run is accompanied by a children’s trivia contest. The trivia contest provides an opportunity for children to have fun while exploring Oklahoma’s rich Route 66 history. Entry tickets for the trivia contest are $2.00 each. As an added bonus, children will receive one free entry for every three poker hands purchased by an adult. All children completing the trivia contest will receive a special award.
Marilyn Emde of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association serves as coordinator for the “Run to the Ridge” event. “We look forward to an exciting day as families celebrate the 80th anniversary of Route 66. Proceeds benefit the Association and will be used towards future preservation efforts. Following the awards presentation at 2p.m, The Oklahoma Route 66 Association’s board will hold their quarterly meeting at the StableRidge Winery. Visitors are welcome to attend.”
