TULSA, OK-- The signing for the Tulsa Talons just keep coming. This time, they acquired a Baylor wideout with NFL experience.
The Tulsa Talons announced today former Baylor Wide Receiver Trent Shelton has signed to play with the Talons in 2011.
Shelton was a two-year fulltime starter at Baylor, but saw action all four seasons starting 7 games in his freshman and sophomore years combined.
Despite starting just 3 games as a redshirt-freshman, Shelton was Baylor’s 2nd leading receiver. As a sophomore, Shelton was the team’s 3rd leading receiver and had at least one reception in each game.
Shelton, is at or near the top of every Baylor all-time receiving record and was named to Baylor’s All-Decade team from 2000-09.
Shelton has spent parts of 3 seasons in the NFL signing out of college with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007, seeing time with the Seattle Seahawks in 2008 and most recently he was on the practice squad of the Washington Redskins during the 2009 season.
“Trent is a big time receiver who put up great numbers at Baylor and is another true NFL talent. When you watch him run routes, there is no question that his abilities are going to transfer over to the arena game very well. Along with a couple of other receivers we have this year, our receiving corps will again be a major strength of our team,” said Head Coach Mitch Allner.
