Brahmas stampede Oilers 3-1.
Speed kills, or so they say, and that was the key that the Texas Brahmas used to down the Tulsa Oilers last night.
The Brahmas were up two goals before the game reached the five minute mark on goals by Greg Hogeboom and Chad Woollard. That deficit, along with an insurance goal by Mick Lawrence in the second period proved to be too much for the Oilers, who seemed out of sync and sluggish through most of the game.
The Oilers were mistake-ridden and sloppy, particularly in the second period. It didn’t help that referee Boone Briggerman kept the penalty box well stocked with Oil,ers players during the game, and it was a testament to Tulsa goalie Trevor Cann that the Brahmas were unable to covert a long stretch of two-man advantage power plays.
In the end, Cann stopped 41 of 44 shots. Texas goalie Wayne Savage turned away 37 of 38 Oilers shots.
Sean Erickson scored the Oilers only goal in the game at 8:05 of the third period.
The Oilers are in action again tonight at 7:35pm against the Mississippi Riverkings.
