Allgood to return to Talons.
Allgood returns as part of a three team swap
The Tulsa Talons were involved in a three-team trade that the AFL website (arenafootball.com) called a "blockbuster" on Monday that brought veteran quarterback Justin Allgood back to Tulsa.
The Philadelphia Soul, San Jose SaberCats and Tulsa Talons finalized a blockbuster trade which sent quarterback Justin Allgood back to his former team. As a part of the three-team trade, Phildelphia swapped wide receiver Rodney Wright for Allgood. Philadelphia then traded Wright to San Jose for offensive lineman Patrick Afif and future considerations.
Allgood led the Talons to a 10-7 record and a division title in 2010. In four seasons in Tulsa he threw for nearly 13,000 yards and 309 yard and led the Talons to the 2007 af2 championship. He signed with the Soul in the off season, but a shaky start to the season in Philly led the Talons management to attempt the trade.
Tulsa has featured two starting quarterbacks this season in Bobby Reid and Matt Bassuener. Bassuener, who took over as the team’s starting quarterback against the Pittsburgh Power on April 2, 2011, has led the team to victory in four of the last six games.
“We are pretty happy with where we are at with our quarterback right now. Matt is our starting quarterback and has done a great job so far,” Talons Head Coach Mitch Allner said. “It was great to get Allgood back home and to the team he has played with for the past few years. We are going to feel out how things go as far as his playing time. Bassuener has been here from the start of the season and our team is in a pretty good place right now where we are playing good ball.”
The Talons will take on the Kansas City Command this Saturday night at 7pm in the BOK Center. Tickets are available at the BOK Center box office or by calling 918 294 1000.
