Shock loses to Chicago 64-55.

Latta scores 20 as Tulsa loses 11th straight game.

TULSA, OK-- The hole the Tulsa Shock are in just keeps getting deeper.

With Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Kevin Durant in attendance the Shock hosted the Chicago Sky at the BOK Center on Thursday night with the hopes of reversing their fortunes and spark something they have not seen all season:

A win streak. Unfortunately it was not to be. 

The Sky handed Tulsa their 11th loss in a row since June 18th, falling 64-55 in front of 4,012 faithful and enthusiastic fans. Tulsa’s Ivory Latta led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 8-12 from the floor and draining 3-of-5 three pointers in her 2nd game after returning from the DL on July 17th. Liz Cambage pulled down 7 rebounds and scored 7 points, and Amber Holt scored 8 points on 4 FG, and five assists on the night.

Sylvia Fowles, led Chicago with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Epiphanny Price scored 11 points, shooting five -of-seven from the floor.

The Shock trailed at the half, then went on an 11-1 run in the third quarter to take the lead 48-46 at the end of the quarter. Chicago then shifted their defense and effectively clogged the middle in the final frame.

Fowles and Sky rookie Courtney Vandersloot were the difference for Chicago, with Vandersloot scoring 12 points and no turnovers. Fowles ended a late Tulsa rally with a lay-up with 1:40 remaining in the 4th quarter, effectively icing the game for the Sky.

Though they trailed most of the game the Shock stayed with Chicago. It was mental mistakes and other miscues that allowed the Sky to grab hold of the lead after the Shock assumed it in the 3rd quarter and hold it until the end of the game. It was yet another noble effort quashed in the late stages of the game that was the Shock’s undoing.

Now, it’s back to the drawing board on Saturday night when the Shock will take on the 2010 WNBA champion Seattle Storm at 7pm in the BOK Center.
