Author to sign biography of famous Wild Wild West actor, Michael Dunn
When author Sherry Kelly wrote the intriguing biography about her late cousin, Michael Dunn, who was the famous little person actor of the 1960s and 70s, she had no idea just how popular he is even today. He played numerous roles on stage, film, and television, including being nominated for an academy award for his role in the movie Ship of Fools. Science fiction fans especially remember him as Dr. Loveless who appeared in 10 episodes of the original Wild Wild West television series. Kelly will be signing books in Tulsa November 12.
When Kelly first attended the CONESTOGA Syfy Convention in Tulsa she was amazed at the number of people who came up and named off the titles of episodes that Dunn played in. Many also mentioned his role as Alexander in the Star Trek episode titled Plato’s Stepchildren.
Furthermore, even though Dunn has been dead for 38 years he plays the leading role in the movie Man in the Mirror which was first released in 2007.
Dunn was one of those charismatic personalities who are not soon forgotten. He lived an amazing life in more ways than just show business. His IQ (178) was higher than Albert Einstein’s (160), and, as you will read in the book it is possible that he was a United States spy. The author and the book have been featured on international radio including the Robert Conrad Show.
The biography titled The Big Life of a Little Man: Michael Dunn Remembered begins with his parents before he was born, tells how they learned their baby was a dwarf, and expresses the unconditional love they had for their special son throughout his entire life. Several poignant personal writings of Dunn’s mother are included in the book, and one chapter is the tale of Dunn’s sailing experiences written by Dunn himself. It is truly one of those books that you don’t want to put down until you have read the last word.
Kelly will be signing books at the Coffee House, 1502 East 15th (Cherry) Street, from 1-3 pm on November 12. Kelly’s other works include A Cat Named Zooby, the charming true story for ages 8 to 108, and, Your New Baby’s Instruction Book, the “must have guide” for new or expectant moms and dads. All three books will be available for purchase.
