Two Tulsans charged with fraud

Attorney General Scott Pruitt’s Workers’ Compensation Fraud Unit has filed workers’ compensation fraud charges against two Tulsa residents.

According to the charges first filed in December in Tulsa County District Court, Christopher Miller, 38, filed a claim with the Workers’ Compensation Court on October 1, 2010 for injuries he purportedly sustained while on the job. The charges were announced this week after warrants were issued.

In September of 2010, Miller was employed as a maintenance man at an apartment complex where Misti Rose Daigle, 26, of Tulsa, was manager. Miller was purportedly injured after being attacked by three men on the apartment grounds. Daigle allegedly felt sorry for Miller and told him to tell the court he was injured on the job. Miller sought medical treatment for injuries to his head, neck, back and ribs.

During the investigation, Daigle admitted to investigators she knew Miller’s injuries were not work related and that she’d told him to make a false claim. The fraud resulted in Miller receiving benefits of more than $6,700 to which he was not entitled.

The Attorney General’s Workers’ Compensation Fraud Unit is the only Oklahoma law enforcement agency dedicated to the investigation and prosecution of workers’ compensation fraud. The Unit also helps raise public awareness of fraud in Oklahoma.
