Tulsa Veterans Day Parade
Monday, 12 November 2007
Tulsa honors veterans today as the city’s annual Veterans Day parade kicks off at 11 am at 6th and Cincinnati Avenue. Because of current construction downtown, the parade will travel south to 10th Street then two blocks east to Elgin Avenue. It will then go north four blocks back to Sixth Street.
Thousands of Tulsans are expected to line the route to cheer and appreciate the spirit and the individuals that protect and defend American freedom. KTUL Channel 8 will broadcast the parade live and offer the feed on its web site, www.ktul.com.
With origins in Armistice Day, commemorating the signing of the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918, Veterans Day has been celebrated in the Tulsa area since 1919 and it is a federal and state holiday.
In this current time of world war as dedicated well-funded enemies seek to destroy our economic and cultural freedom, Tulsa Today reporters and staff thank each and every service man and woman for their honor and courage and commitment to this and every future generation. May God Bless.
