Veterans demanding Benghazi investigation
Seven-hundred special operations veterans, who spent their military careers preparing for and executing rescue and recovery missions of detained or threatened Americans, signed a letter to every member of the House of Representatives urging the legislators to support H.Res. 36, which will create a House Select Committee to investigate last September’s deadly terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.
Mat Staver, Chairman of Liberty Counsel Action, said: “It is time for the stonewalling to end and for Members of Congress to establish a select committee to uncover the truth. We must determine why four Americans serving in harm’s way were allowed to die on September 11, 2012, at the hands of jihadists without any intervention to help them. We must find out why the Obama Administration described this attack as a random act of violence rather than an organized, jihadist terrorist attack.”
“America’s military has long held to the value that no American will be left behind. This is another American value that has gone by the wayside with the Obama Administration,” Staver said.
“Questions linger: why did America fail to provide the needed security? Why did the military fail to respond when the embassy was under vicious attack? Why did President Obama, Hillary Clinton and other political appointees insist that an obliviously organized terrorist attack was the result of a video?” he asked. “I see no other way at getting the answers except establishing a select committee. We must ensure that no one else needlessly loses their lives because of the inaction of this Administration. We must hold those responsible accountable,” Staver concluded.
