Bruce Springsteen concert supports Tulsa food bank

Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street Band have a long history of supporting the local food banks in the cities they perform, and Tulsa is no exception.  Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street Band’s Tulsa appearance Tuesday April 7 will include a local area food drive to heighten awareness for those in need.  Bruce and The E-Street Band will donate a portion of the proceeds from their ticket sales at the BOK Center to the Tulsa’s Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

From the limited number of front-of-house tickets that remain for this Tuesday’s concert, Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street Band have set aside two hundred tickets with a special price of $20, with all of the proceeds going directly to Tulsa’s Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.  In order to purchase these tickets, patrons are asked to bring one or more canned food items to the Arby’s Box Office at the BOK Center when these tickets go on sale starting Monday, April 6th at noon, while supplies last. BOK Center is proud to host Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street Band this Tuesday night, April 7th and is equally proud to support this very special cause.  Patrons are encouraged to bring one or more canned food items to the BOK Center to help support Tulsa’s Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.  The night of the event there will be collection points at the entrances of the BOK Center. John Bolton, General Manager of the BOK Center, stated “At a time where many children go to bed at night hungry, it is amazing to see an artist like Bruce Springsteen recognize this and do something about it.  We look forward to Tulsa’s support in this effort.”Bruce Springsteen's new album 'Working on a Dream' was released January 27, 2009. 

'Working on a Dream' was recorded with the E Street Band and features twelve new Springsteen compositions plus one bonus track.  It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O'Brien, who produced and mixed the album.

Bruce Springsteen said, "Towards the end of recording 'Magic,' excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing.  When my friend producer Brendan O'Brien heard the new songs, he said, 'Let's keep going.'  Over the course of the next year, that's just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year's tour.  I hope 'Working on a Dream' has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we've ever done.  All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end."

'Working on a Dream' is Bruce Springsteen's twenty-fourth album and was recorded and mixed at Southern Tracks in Atlanta, GA with additional recording in New York City, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.

Springsteen recently picked up a Golden Globe for “Best Original Song – Motion Picture” for “The Wrestler,” which is included on as a bonus trackAccolades are not new for Springsteen; over the years he has picked up 18 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes and an Academy Award.  He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 1999.  He continues to be a touring force, selling out all over the world and he opened the 56 Presidential Inaugural Opening Ceremony with a performance on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s “Working on a Dream” Tour began April 1st in San Jose, CA and continues throughout the spring.
