Fourth Annual Cherokee Art Market Coming To Tulsa
Featuring more than 150 elite Native American artists from across the country, the 4th annual Cherokee Art Market will be held Oct. 10-11 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Admission is free to and the festival is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the casino off Interstate 44. An awards reception will be held Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. to honor prizewinners. Overall prize money, across 20 categories, is $75,000.
The finest Native American artwork representing nearly all tribes will be displayed and sold at the market. Artwork includes beadwork, pottery, painting, basketry, sculptures and textiles. The show will be held indoors for the first time.
The International Cherokee Film Festival will be running simultaneously on Oct. 9-10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets for individual screenings are $4 and an all-day pass is $10. Complimentary tickets are available for students, tribal employees, artists and independent filmmakers.
Entries to the film festival are currently being accepted for Feature Film, 70-plus minutes; Feature Documentary, 50-plus minutes; Documentary, up to 50 minutes; Short, up to 60 minutes; Short Film Nook, 15 minutes or less; Multi-Media; Music Video/DVD Music CD; Animation; Student Filmmaker, under 23 years old; and Other including Public Service, Educational Instructional and Organizational.
