Red Dirt Tulsa welcomes Christy Clayton
Dirty’s Tavern is bringing back a crowd favorite on Friday, Nov. 2, and this time around, Texas musician Christy Clayton’s reputation – and southern rockin’ Red Dirt style – is causing big stir.
It is Clayton’s second appearance at Dirty’s – and she performed at Dfest in July.
Friday’s show is just one stop on Clayton’s ‘Breakin’ the Rules’ tour to promote her debut CD, “Devil’s Paradise,” which has enjoyed airplay throughout Texas, and regionally in the Southeast and Midwest. Her style has been a good fit for Tulsa radio station KVOO 98.5 FM’s Red Dirt Radio Hour, and station representatives will interview Clayton after her live performance.
“I’m excited about each and every show on this tour,” said Clayton. “It’s a lot of unexplored territory for us.” The tour will take Clayton and crew through Amarillo, TX; Oklahoma City; Springfield, MO; Ft. Smith, AR; Toledo, OH; and even Nashville, TN – a date coinciding with the excitement of the annual Country Music Awards.
Clayton, who records on the Las Vegas, NV-based Desert Funk label, has opened for Red Dirt icons Cross Canadian Ragweed, and last week appeared with female pop/country duo The Wreckers, as part of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas’ homecoming show.
Clayton’s CD is available in FYE stores and online at iTunes.com, Rhapsody.com and more. For details, show dates and music samples, visit www.christyclayton.com or visit www.myspace.com/christyclaytonband – where her page is receiving nearly 5,000 new plays a day, placing her in the Top 10 on the Texas MySpace Music Charts in Country, Southern Rock and Americana.
The music press is sweet on Clayton and her “Devil’s Paradise.” Nashville’s Performing Songwriter writes that “Tough characters, powerhouse vocals and driving beats add up to a great album that even the non-devils among us can enjoy.”
Dirty’s Tavern is located at 2nd Street and Elgin Avenue in downtown Tulsa’s Blue Dome District. For more information on the show, call (405) 707-0227.
