“Believe in Me” Included in Centennial Celebration

“Believe in Me” – the true story of Oklahoma High School Coaches Hall of Famer Jim Keith, who transformed a losing girls’ basketball team into state champions in the early 1960s – comes to Tulsa’s Palace 12 Theater on Sept. 7. 

The film’s special Oklahoma Centennial release coincides with public recognition of Keith and marks 35 years of Title IX, the U.S. law preventing discrimination on the basis of sex in any educational program.
 

Veteran screen actor Bruce Dern (“The Cowboys”, “Silent Running”) joins Jeffrey Donovan (“Burn Notice”, “Hitch) and Samantha Mathis (“American Psycho) ” in the IFC feature film based on author Harold Keith’s novel, “Brief Garland,” about his nephew’s triumphant seasons with the Lady Cyclones.

“Believe in Me” has already received good press.  Entertainment Tonight’s Leonard Maltin claims the film “won him over.”  The Cleveland Sun said the film “should be included among the best of high school sports films,” and the Albuquerque Journal warned that “even seasoned sports junkies may find themselves groping for a hanky.” 

Coaches’ networks in Oklahoma and Texas are using a word-of-mouth campaign to motivate their teams and communities to attend a screening.
