Oklahoma woman to turn 99 or 26
Newsok.com has a fun story today about an Oklahoma woman that can claim an age of 99 or 26 depending on how technical you want to be about the day. She praises God for the longevity. "A leap year baby, Moore only celebrates her birthday every four years as that’s the only time it shows up on the calendar," the story notes. Written by Sean Rose, a NewsOK contributor and Director of Communications with CARE Oklahoma, an organization established in 2004 to advocate on behalf of the long-term care community, the piece continues:
Maggie Mae Moore is about to turn 99, but technically, she’s only 26. A leap year baby, Moore only celebrates her birthday every four years as that’s the only time it shows up on the calendar.
The resident of Carnegie Nursing Home in rural Caddo County has big plans including visits from her two daughters – one coming from Albuquerque and the other one coming Virginia. “We might go out to eat or we might just have a little party. Or, we might do both,” Moore said.
Known for her class, Moore is loved by all the residents and caregivers. “She always is dressed to the ‘T’ with matching jewelry. I can promise you that her hair is going to be fixed and she’ll have her makeup on,” said Betty Smith, director of nursing at the facility.
Moore said she contributes her longevity to prayer and not smoking or drinking. “I had help from above,” she said.
