Baby parts a cash crop?
Pro-life organizations are calling for investigations and prosecutions after a Planned Parenthood official admitted during an undercover filming that the abortion group harvests and sells aborted baby parts. The Tulsa Planned Parenthood clinic does not provide abortion, but does refer women to abortion service providers. The undercover pro-lifers posed as buyers for a human biologics company that was seeking body parts. What they recorded was sickly details of abortionists harvesting baby organs such as livers, brains and hearts. With hidden cameras rolling, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the senior director of medical services for Planned Parenthood, described harvesting the body parts while she munched on a salad and sipped wine.
"I'd say a lot of people want liver," the Planned Parenthood official says in a video recorded last year. The undercover videos were recorded over a period of months by the Center for Medical Progress, a medical ethics organization. Reporting on the undercover video, LifeSiteNews described Nucatola's conversation:
Nucatola said she has “a huddle at the beginning of the day” to determine what fetal body parts consumers are requesting, and which patients that day will have babies from which they will be able to harvest them. Then Planned Parenthood abortionists tailor the procedure to assure they do not destroy the organs, maximizing profitability…
She revealed that, as abortionists are dismembering the child, they decide, “I’m not gonna crush that part. I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”
"And what that means is they will deliver a baby fully alive and fully intact just to get a perfect heart or liver or brain," Operation Rescue spokesman Troy Newman tells OneNewsNow. The video proves, he says, that Planned Parenthood officials know the organization is harvesting baby organs and selling them for profit. https://youtu.be/jjxwVuozMnU Click here to read more on One News Now. Michelle Malkin makes a powerful point in her column on topic writing, "Planned Parenthood has officially declared it 'torture' for women to see their unborn children through ultrasound before submitting to abortion. The billion-dollar abortion industry has lobbied vociferously against increasing ultrasound access to pregnant women on the fence about abortion. "But when the same imaging technology is used to help Planned Butcherhood's 'providers' place their forceps strategically to protect their precious organ commodities, it's invaluable 'guidance,' Malkin writes. Tulsa Today contacted the local Planned Parenthood office which does not provide abortion services, but does provide abortion referrals. We asked if those services to which the Tulsa office refers women for abortion procedures harvested tissue or organs for any purpose.
Angie Remington, Public Relations Manager, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland headquartered in Omaha answered by email, "Regarding the providers that we refer to, you would have to check with them to verify whether or not they participate in the donation of tissue for research. To our knowledge, they do not." Remington also provided a statement from Eric Ferrero, Vice President of Communications, Planned Parenthood Federation of America which follows:
“In health care, patients sometimes want to donate tissue to scientific research that can help lead to medical breakthroughs, such as treatments and cures for serious diseases. Women at Planned Parenthood who have abortions are no different. At several of our health centers, we help patients who want to donate tissue for scientific research, and we do this just like every other high-quality health care provider does -- with full, appropriate consent from patients and under the highest ethical and legal standards. There is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either the patient or for Planned Parenthood. In some instances, actual costs, such as the cost to transport tissue to leading research centers, are reimbursed, which is standard across the medical field.
“A well funded group established for the purpose of damaging Planned Parenthood’s mission and services has promoted a heavily edited, secretly recorded videotape that falsely portrays Planned Parenthood’s participation in tissue donation programs that support lifesaving scientific research. Similar false accusations have been put forth by opponents of abortion services for decades. These groups have been widely discredited and their claims fall apart on closer examination, just as they do in this case.”
However, Breitbart.com is reporting that the undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood has turned up evidence that it sold “intact” fetal organs to at least one California company known as Stem Express. Stem Express charges $400 to $25,000 for stem cells grown from fetal organs.
Web site image capture - Breitbart.com Stem Express is a California-based company started in 2010. Its website was apparently put into a maintenance mode on Tuesday after the story broke. However, the Internet archive shows the site listed “fetal tissue” and “fetal liver” for sale at least as far back as 2012: The most current version of the site even lists the prices for various fetal liver products. Prices range from $488 for a vial of half-a-million “cryopreserved” CD34+ cells up to $24,250 for a vial of 5 million CD133+ cells. Click here for more from Breitbart.com.
