Rep. Proctor appointed assistant leader
OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Eric Proctor will serve as the Assistant Democratic Leader during the 2014 legislative session, Democratic Leader Scott Inman announced today.
“My friend and colleague has dedicated his life to serving others whether as a Bible study leader at his church, as a public school teacher or as a state representative working for his constituents in the City of Tulsa,” said Inman, D-Del City. “I’m confident he will excel in his new leadership role to the benefit of our caucus, the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the State of Oklahoma.” Proctor is the Ranking Member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives Energy and Aerospace Committee and was appointed by former Speaker T.W. Shannon (R-Lawton) to serve on the National Energy Council.
“I look forward to continuing my efforts finding consensus both in our caucus and with Republican legislators,” said Proctor, D-Tulsa. “It has been my experience that if we keep an open door and an open mind to members of both parties we can better represent the people who sent us here.”
Proctor served as Deputy Floor Leader during the 2013 session. A fifth-generation Oklahoman and fourth-generation homeowner in Tulsa’s House District 77, Proctor served in youth ministry and as a high school economics, history and government teacher prior to his election in 2006.
