Republican birthday rally
The Republican Party of Tulsa County will be hosting a party and rally in celebration of the 159th birthday of the Republican Party from 12 noon to 2:30 pm on Saturday, August 17th at the Spirit Bank Event Center, 104th & South Memorial in Tulsa.
The Grand Old Party was established in 1854. It all started with people who opposed slavery. They were common, everyday people who bristled at the notion that men had any right to oppress their fellow man. In the early 1850’s, these anti-slavery activists found commonality with rugged individuals looking to settle in western lands, free of government charges. “Free soil, free labor, free speech, free men,” went the slogan. And it was thus in joint opposition to human enslavement and government tyranny that an enterprising people gave birth to the Republican Party.
Join the Republican Party of Tulsa County to celebrate at the GOP Birthday Bash! There will be fun for the whole family with party games, a silent auction, live auction, door prizes and, of course, birthday cake and conservative Republican Punch.
Keynote speakers for the rally will be Congressman Jim Bridenstine and Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett. Other speakers will include National GOP Committeeman Steve Fair, Tulsa Auditor, Clift Richards and others.
Come to enjoy the festivities and support Republican candidates and elected officials in Tulsa County. Tickets are available online at www.tulsagop.org with a link to Eventbrite or at the door. Donations of any amount are welcome. Proceeds will benefit the Republican Party of Tulsa County.
With thanks to KRMG for the heads-up, the beloved star of the Republican Party Ronald Reagan was praised upon his death by then President George W. Bush who said;
"Ronald Reagan won America's respect with his greatness, and won its love with his goodness. He had the confidence that comes with conviction, the strength that comes with character, the grace that comes with humility, and the humor that comes with wisdom. He leaves behind a nation he restored and a world he helped save.
During the years of President Reagan, America laid to rest an era of division and self-doubt. And because of his leadership, the world laid to rest an era of fear and tyranny. Now, in laying our leader to rest, we say thank you. He always told us that for America, the best was yet to come. We comfort ourselves in the knowledge that this is true for him, too. His work is done, and now a shining city awaits him. May God bless Ronald Reagan."
Take a look at the video following for some of Reagan's best moments as both a candidate and as the nation's leader. Also included at the end is a bit of President Obama and what many say would be Reagan's response to the current president.
