Should football fans boycott SF 49ers?

Updated: Donald Trump Monday weighed in on this story saying, “I think it’s personally not a good thing.” Trump said on the Dori Monson Show. “I think it’s a terrible thing, and you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him. Let him try, it won’t happen.”

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has "willingly immersed" himself into controversy by refusing to stand for the national anthem in protest of wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States according to NFL.com.

His latest refusal to stand -- he has done this in at least one other preseason game -- came before the 49ers' preseason loss to Green Bay at Levi's Stadium on Friday night. While many support his freedom of expression, fans may also boycott the team. Tulsa Today readers are saying they will.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Thus proof that academia graduates idiots ignorant of factual history. It also provides some evidence that the lies from the Democrat's favorite Marxists' movement "Black Lives Matter" can infect otherwise seemingly intelligent people.

Kaepernick should read "The War on Cops, How the New Attack on Law and Order Makes Everyone Less Safe" by Heather MacDonald. Assuming he has the intellectual curiosity and honesty to test facts after absorbing propaganda.

The 49ers issued a statement about Kaepernick's decision: "The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose and participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem."

Niners coach Chip Kelly told reporters Saturday that Kaepernick's decision not to stand during the national anthem is "his right as a citizen" and said "it's not my right to tell him not to do something."

The NFL also released a statement, obtained by NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport: "Players are encouraged but not required to stand during the playing of the national anthem."

As for American Fans, we are free to boo the player and the team or just personally boycott any game played by any self-aggrandizing ignorant fool. Maybe Kaepernick doesn't feel he is getting enough attention after absorbing more ink than a small town newspaper.
