Sidekicks dominate Revolution

TULSA, OK—It was not a good night for the Tulsa Revolution.

A series of defensive miscues, turnovers, and out-of-sync offensive effort from Tulsa and a nearly flawless performance by the Dallas Sidekicks (10-2) saw the Revolution(1-10) suffer its worst home loss this season. Dallas’ Nestor Hernandez set a team record, scoring five goals, to lead the Dallas Sidekicks to a 13-2 win over the Tulsa Revolution at the Cox Business Center, Saturday night.  Mark Withers and Jamie Lovegrove each added a pair of goals for the Sidekicks, with Franck Mbemba and Gabe Arrendondo and Nick Stavrou providing the remaining marks for Dallas, with the majority of the goals coming during the second and third quarters of the match.

In all it took 45:37 for the Revolution to finally ruin the shutout for Sidekick goalkeeper Dejan Milosevic when Franck Tayou scored his 10th goal this season a little over half a minute into the fourth quarter, assisted by Tulsa team captain Thomas Shannon.  Levi Coleman provided the Revolution’s second and final goal just 23 seconds after that, rocketing a bicycle kick past Milosevic.  That, unfortunately was all the offense Tulsa could muster in the match.

Despite the fact that the game was pretty much out of the reach of the home team at this point, it gave the Revolution fans in the arena something to finally cheer about.  All in all it was a poor outing for the Revolution, who were easily mesmerized by the plays the Sidekicks were executing that put them out of position and allowed the Sidekicks to capitalize.

“Our guys had a lot of respect for Dallas and we weren’t as energetic as we needed to be,” Revolution head coach Michael Nsien said, “They got on the board early and it took us a long time to recover.

“In the next game we have to have more enthusiasm and have the confidence to go at players.” Nsien continued, “We need to keep the ball and be able to get the ball back after turnovers  Tonight we put ourselves under pressure by defending too much and we just need to confidence to believe we can get the ball back.”

The Revolution will return next weekend when they host the Wichita B-52’s for the first time in the Cox Convention Center at 6pm next Saturday.  It will be the second game in a season-long four-game home-stand for the Revolution.
