Special election set
State Senator Jabar Shumate
Tulsa's Jabar Shumate (Democrat District 11) announced his resignation last week and Monday Gov. Mary Fallin set the dates for a special election to fill the unexpired term.
Fallin issued a proclamation setting the filing period for the special election from Jan. 19-21. If necessary, a special primary election will be April 7, with a general election June 9.
If a primary isn’t needed, the special general election will be April 7.

Shumate is in the final two years of his term and couldn’t have run again because of term limits.
