The Tulsa County Republican Party filed a civil lawsuit Thursday, June 12, against recently replaced leadership. On Tuesday, June 17, that lawsuit was withdrawn and officials report negotiations have resumed. In short, the situation is fluid, and all parties are working to resolve multiple disputes that have been ongoing since March 1.
Party members should presume both sides are honorable and engaged with the best of intentions, but the dispute in Tulsa is reflected in other counties and, to some degree, the State Republican Party.
Before the communist propagandists in Oklahoma establishment media (Tulsa World) become joyously giddy watching Republicans fight, let’s be clear this is a family fight among loved ones. We are more united in our big tent than outsiders understand.
To that point, as this writer recently celebrated on Tulsa Today, the U.S. Border Patrol report of zero illegal migrants released into the county in May 2025.
Thank you lying Leftists for illustrating stupid and evil. No policy or program of the Democratic Party nationally, in Oklahoma, or in Tulsa works. While you daily effort civil war and the destruction of Western Civilization, maybe you should detail what the flying frack you think can replace it? In majority, Americans believe the best guarantee of individual liberty and prosperity is the U.S. Constitution.
Leftists can use the fluidity of meaning to rally brain dead minions (Still No Kings since April 19, 1775), but sane citizens are laughing. The Democratic Party is publicly seen as morally criminal, emotionally unstable, and cognitively impaired, but other than that, they are very “fine” people.
Media should know, as they research our GOP disputes, what conservative writers think of them. Feel free to quote me.
Back to difficult issues at hand. Republican Party of Oklahoma Rule 19(f) (previously Rule 19(g)) states:
(f ) Delivery of Books, Records, Funds and Property to Successors: Every officer, committee and each member thereof, and delegates of any Republican organization of Oklahoma, upon removal, resignation, disqualification, or termination of office, shall at once deliver to the successor or to the officer or body from which one was appointed or elected, all of the papers, books, records, funds, and property kept or received in such official capacity, or in one’s possession, belonging to the Oklahoma Republican Party.
Tulsa County officials named in the causes of action are Ronda Vuillemont-Smith, former-Chairman, Robert “Bob” Jack, former-Treasurer, and Charity Marcus, former- Secretary. Their terms ended on March 1, at the 2025 Tulsa County Republican Convention and repeated efforts to enforce Rule 19(f) have not been successful.
On April 29th, a “Transition Status” listing of issues was provided to the parties:
1. On March 1, 2025, new officers were elected at the Republican Party of Tulsa County (“Tulsa GOP”) Convention.
2. After the Tulsa GOP Convention on March 1, 2025, the official party website, www.tulsagop.org, was taken down by Charity Marcus. When questioned, Ms. Marcus responded that because she created some of the content on that website, she “owned” it and therefore, had the right to take it down. She later provided the content to the current officers that she had not created. As a result, a new website was quickly created, www.tulsacountygop.org.
3. On Monday, March 3, 2025, a meeting was held between some of the former Tulsa County GOP officers and the current officers. Some of the materials required under Rule 19(f) were provided, such as the checkbook and a spreadsheet containing financials. The password to the Tulsa GOP Facebook page was also provided.
4. According to the former officers, there were three platforms used to collect revenue on behalf of the Tulsa GOP, including Anedot (general donations), Square (mostly merchandise sales), and Eventbrite (event registrations). The login credentials for Anedot was provided to the new officers. The new officers also requested login credentials for Square and Eventbrite. Those requests were denied. The reasons given for this denial was that the account for these two platforms also were being used for non-Tulsa GOP entities. Transaction data for the March 1, 2025 Tulsa GOP Convention was provided in hardcopy form from Eventbrite.
5. On March 26, 2025 a demand letter was sent by Tulsa GOP Chair, Melissa Myers, to the former officers requesting information that had not been provided by the former officers pursuant to Rule 19(f).
6. After this demand letter, electronic files containing the transaction data from Square for the last four years were provided.
7. Despite repeated efforts, no further transaction data was provided from the Eventbrite account, which constitutes the largest revenue source for the Tulsa GOP.
8. A third-party mediator was asked to help resolve the outstanding issues with respect to transaction data that had not been provided by the former officers. The mediator met with representatives from both groups.
9. Concurrent with the mediator’s efforts, a second demand letter was sent on April 17, 2025, to the prior officers, this time from outside counsel representing the Tulsa GOP.
10. The former officers next made a verbal offer to provide Eventbrite transaction data for eight events covering the last two years. The primary stipulation on this was that no other requests could be made from the prior officers.
11. The verbal offer was followed up by a written offer. The written offer, however, required a stipulation that providing this Eventbrite data “satisfied all outstanding request for information from the previous administration.” There are, however, additional unfulfilled requests. For example, on information and belief, there are hardcopy records being held by former officers that are required to be turned over to the current officers under Rule 19(f).
12. At this point, resolution of the outstanding issues has not been achieved.
The GOP Big Tent includes many good hearts that disagree. Some are Republicans in name only (RINOS), some are “Establishment,” some are “Grassroots,” and some none of the above. What can be very entertaining is to discover the differences in what people think they are and what others assign them. Who sits with whom at what event is just one example of assumptions others make that may or not be true over time.
This writer enjoys people who disagree. I disagree with myself often so why should I get upset when others do the same? I like to fish for ideas in different ponds.
Sometimes bullies push themselves to power in the party and it is hard for that personality type to give up authority even after official authority has been removed. In this case, former officials assert they don’t want to provide financial and operational details because they have mixed their own money with organizational funds. What kind of idiot doesn’t know that is wrong, if not a crime?
Further in finance, transparency is required by organizational rules, but again, when bullies are running things, they don’t think rules apply to themselves. Wrong again.
The question here is if it will take a two-by-four across the head of a mule to get it’s attention and change direction.
The case can be filed again, but the mules apparently have gotten the message and, after stonewalling for months, are engaged to provide what is required. They have no choice. Like it or not, the truth will be told even if it takes a public trial.
Here is one plea to all parties to end this without further legal proceedings. Let’s get back to insulting Leftists, it’s much more fun.
Reader Update: From the last Tulsa County Committee meeting we have added new subscribers. Welcome all. My beginning in print journalism was not planned but covered by Rebecca Martin writing for the Columbia Journalism Review in 1987 here. I established TulsaToday in 1996 and Straight Up on Substack in 2022. Thank you for reading. If you know of others willing to report news, please help us connect. There is much to be done statewide.
You know when two players on the same team both go up and accidentally fight each other for a rebound until they notice they're wearing the same jersey? This is not at all like that 😂
You have seen the tyranny that has been experienced especially in the Tulsa GOP. Thank you for your willingness to report on it---frequently. They are losing power and it is causing the to lose their minds.
