Understanding war in Europe
Video Update: The best book to understand the KBG controlled Russian government's attitude and the new shooting war with the people of Ukraine is Disinformation by Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa and Prof. Ronald J. Rychlak. In short, war has begun and the West has been "punked" or "made fools." This book tells how.
Pacepa is a former spy chief - the highest-ranking Soviet bloc intelligence official ever to defect to the west. His previous international best seller Red Horizons former-President Ronald Reagan called "my bible for dealing with dictators." Pacepa lives under a protective identity in America and is credited by the CIA as the only person in the Western world to single-handedly demolish an entire enemy espionage service - the one he once managed.
In an exclusive interview with the co-author of Disinformation, Prof. Ronald J. Rychlak, in Tulsa last year, Rychlak discussed specifics as well the kind of push-back he has experienced - not the multiple death sentences Pacepa deals with, but the socially damning "raised eyebrow" of elitist academics for daring to write the truth.
Across the room, such a subtle sign represents the disdain of those that believe they could rule the people better than free people can rule themselves. They discard the historical record of Marxism, Socialism and other forms of tyranny because they themselves feel so confident in their pseudo-intellectual superiority - a thin veil over hubris - that they are above murdering millions. Never-mind that absolute power corrupts absolutely. They reject religion, individual responsibility, and all that has unified America for generations. They believe they are better equipped to rule.
Ronald J. Rychlak
Rychlak said, "What does unify people? If you destroy the culture? The borders are under assault so I don’t know if you can talk about unifying the people. There once was a common Judaic Christian ethic, but I don’t know if America can claim that anymore. Not that many people would acknowledge that today.
"We have almost reached the administrative state that removes judgment. We see it when a child draws a picture of a gun and gets in trouble," Rychlak said.
Significant portions of the book detail official communist efforts to denigrate and defame Christianity and Judaism through an ongoing campaign. Specifically how Pope Pius XII - a generation ago the world's most high-profile Christian leader, who personally saved countless Jews from Hitler's Holocaust - was transformed, through the magic of disinformation, into a Nazi sympathizer.
Rychlak said, "The communists couldn’t care less about a pope that has been dead for fifty years. That’s not what it is about. It is about discrediting the Catholic Church and Christianity itself in some way and ultimately discrediting religion. Even though communism has bred Middle Eastern terrorism, we see [the results of their efforts in the expression] that religion is the problem. You can attack religion from all different areas; scientific, reason or logic, warmongering, and then you mock people for clinging to their bibles. The point is to move common thought to the belief that humans are better than religion.
"The Soviet Sphere has taken a very long view in terms of gaining control. The book reviews how they sent thousands of young men into seminaries and other religious organizations well understanding that less than five percent may 'pay-off' from their perspective. Some may become priests or pastors and may never be of any use to the Soviet cause, but some of them will rise to levels were they will be of use and, by providing support, communists had something over their heads and the ability to twist their arms. They may have kept the Soviet ideology perhaps. The ninety-five percent doesn’t matter if the five percent provide a huge payoff. While the church may think over centuries, the communists think at least over decades and I am not sure anyone else thinks past Tuesday," Rychlak said.
Disinformation documents that the Soviet block also planted 4,000 agents of influence in the Islamic world, armed with hundreds of thousands of copies of the most infamous anti-Semitic book in history, to fan the flames of ancient Arab resentments against the U.S. and Israel.
John Kerry and friend
Secretary of State, John Kerry, will not likely be pleased, but the defamatory attacks on American soldiers he made before Congress upon return from Vietnam - charges later discredited and repudiated - were identical to a contemporaneous KGB disinformation campaign concocted to turn Americans against their own leaders. Disinformation has the details.
Supporters of President Barack Obama may also not be pleased that Liberation Theology (Obama's professed faith over 20 years) is a creation of communists and it is not a Christian religion.
On the flip side, have you ever wondered how Che Cuevara became an icon of the Left. A man that had more blood on his hands than most in modern history?
Che Cuevara
Pacepa writes, "Cuba's Castro brothers, who feared any liberalization, decided it would be simpler just to plaster a romantic revolutionary facade over their communism. They chose Che as their poster boy because he had already been executed in Bolivia - a US ally; after having unsuccessfully tried to ignite a guerrilla war, he could be portrayed as a martyr of American imperialism. The KGB immediately offered support. The Romanian DIE, which in those days enjoyed close relations with its Cuban counterpart, the DGI, was also ordered to lend a hand, and that placed me squarely in the picture."
The book also details the specifics of Soviet Bloc disinformation attack millions of Americans have come to believe as true: that the U.S. government itself masterminded the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Names with documentation is also provided that show how supposedly respectable institutions like the World Council of Churches have long been infiltrated and controlled by Russian intelligence.
Mikhail Gorbachev
What, dear reader, do you think is the meaning of "glasnost?" Mikhail Gorbachev wrote that it was the effort to lead the Soviets "out of its totalitarian state and to democracy, to freedom, to openness." But in Disinformation Pacepa writes, "in fact glasnost is an old Russian term for polishing the ruler's image. Originally it meant, literally, publicizing, i.e., self-promotion." He notes that "as late as the mid-1930s the official Soviet encyclopedia defined glasnost as a spin on news released to the public."
Pacepa establishes a compelling case that today Russia is specifically an intelligence dictatorship. He should know. He was there. He did that under orders.
Rychlak continued, "Pacepa said when he came to the United States there were three things he felt he thought he had played an important role in dis-informing America; Romanian President Nicolae Ceausescu, the Kennedy Assignation, and Pope Pious XII. Those were the three things he wanted to set straight and he had written about the first two and this book Disinformation is largely about Pope Pious XII.
"As we worked on it, it grew. New things came up and Pacepa realized that there was a fourth thing – his role in modern terrorism. He hadn’t counted that as he went along because it was a less direct effort of cultivating attitudes in the Middle East.
"I remember early how Pacepa taught me how to read things and look for patterns and motivations behind what you see – to look for ideologies being advanced by what authors and who might be behind them for what purpose. I have a broad spectrum of things I work on and, for example, reading the agenda of the International Criminal Court and why is the American Bar Association such an active lobbyist for that Court. Things that just don’t make sense. He taught me to push through and try to get beyond the surface to really understand things. At the same time, not to slip into full conspiracy theory. I mean I already have written books with the Vatican and the Nazis so do I really want to write about the Kremlin or just get a tin-foil hat and sit in the corner?
"Deal with me on the merits. Let’s take the points one by one and if critics see fault in our history, logic or reporting then fine. If we have made a mistake, we will acknowledge it, but no one has asserted such a fault to date. But if critics say it’s on Fox News or WND Books so it can’t be trusted, then that is insulting if not simply stupid.
"You can be portrayed as a nut or you can become a nut I suppose, but in each detail in Disinformation we made the case. It was fascinating to work with Pacepa," Rychlak said.
It is fascinating and a bit depressing to read Disinformation if you love America. Time and again, this writer set the book aside as anger grew over the gullibility or stupidity of many and the evil of others. Having read the work, this writer is confident the Russian invasion of Ukraine was planned well in advance to occur after the Olympics and for a purpose - Putin aims to rebuild a Soviet empire. Pretty words from a repeatedly proven impotent American President won't stop him.
James Woolsey
R. James Woolsey, former Director of Central Intelligence (native Tulsan) wrote in introduction, Disinformation “would change the way you look at intelligence, foreign affairs, the press and much else besides.”

Disinformation's Authors: LT. GEN. ION MIHAI PACEPA, the highest-ranking intelligence official ever to defect from the Soviet bloc, served as acting chief of communist Romania’s espionage service and top adviser to President Nicolae Ceauşescu. In December 1989, the dictator Ceauşescu was executed at the end of a trial wherein the accusations came almost entirely from Pacepa’s first book, "Red Horizons," subsequently republished in 27 countries. Today, with assassination threats still hanging over his head because of his defection and continuing fight against socialist dictatorship, Pacepa lives in the U.S. under a protective identity. Still vigorous in his 80s, he remains an astute and uniquely insightful writer on current affairs.
