Laws the IRS think important and not

The arrogance of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was on clear display during Congressional hearings on suspected targeting of President Obama's political opponents. So does the law apply equally to both the high and mighty and the common man?  How can anyone know if they don't review the law?

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Monday questioned IRS Commissioner John Koskinen who claimed "there’s no evidence of criminal misconduct at the IRS" over the targeting scandal, even though he hasn’t bothered to examine the criminal code.

“You have already said multiple times today that there was no evidence that you found of any criminal wrongdoing,” Gowdy said. “I want you to tell me what criminal statutes you’ve evaluated.” “I have not looked at any,” Koskinen replied.

“Well then how can you possibly tell our fellow citizens that there’s not criminal wrongdoing if you don’t even know what statutes to look at?” Gowdy shot back.

Taxpayers should note that the IRS is an organization empowered to reach into any citizen's life to seize bank accounts, real estate and personal property etc. at any moment.

The IRS demands that citizens keep records for seven years, but they can't keep their own email records - as required by law.  Wow, what laws do they think important?  Only the ones they like? Does that mean citizens can pick and choose laws to follow or not by any individual's own opinion.  Is that what is meant by the Rule of Law in America in this generation?
