Why Benghazi matters
Analysis: Even loyal fans of President Barack Obama agree questions must be answered about the American response to the terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi September 11, 2012. Who ordered the military to “stand down” rather than go to the aid of embattled diplomats, staff and security? What was the thinking for such a decision? Why not save your own people? To Leftist loyalists, it is a central question. This cuts to the core of all things Left. The “government knows best” crowd believes, as a matter of faith, that government will always provide the correct response. As President Obama has said of many things, “only government can solve this crisis” and Benghazi was a security crisis. If the government is shown in Benghazi to have thrown away their own employee’s lives, and the life of the President’s Personal Representative in the name of domestic politics – who would ever want to work for or trust them in any crisis? Would you work for someone that would kill you to win an election? Oklahoma's Senator Jim Inhofe will speak on this Friday at the Tulsa Republican Club.
For those neither Left nor Right, the cover-up is the next critical question. Why the lie? It is now documented fact that the administration knew Benghazi was a terrorist attack as events unfolded – contrary to President Obama’s public assertions even to the General Assembly of the United Nations. There was no protest demonstration in Benghazi. Why did the administration change the talking points 12 times? Who made those changes for what reason under what direction? This news query even CBS and ABC news has now discovered – talk about mainstream media – could there be honor budding in traditional newsrooms nationwide?
On the Right; many knew the now documented truth quickly. This writer questioned on Tulsa Today and, later, poised the question of Benghazi to U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) at his speech at a Tulsa Republican Club meeting at the Summit Club in downtown Tulsa.
Senator Tom Coburn Coburn answered, “We couldn’t get there in time” and “don’t trust everything you read on the Internet.” Nice lines senator, but both are now proven false in this case. There were military assets ready to act, but they were ordered not to act. The Internet carried many accurate reports on Benghazi quickly. So Senator Coburn, who told you what? Did President Obama assert fictions at a private diner as you played your part in the myth of congeniality? Benghazi was not a bungled burglary of a political office. Benghazi cost the lives of four Americans while they were actively serving their county. What is the truth and who tried to hide it? If this is still government established of the people, by the people and for the people; then the people deserve to know.
Senator Jim Inhofe There is another luncheon sponsored by the Tulsa Republican Club May 17, 2013 at the Summit Club and Senator Jim Inhofe, Ranking Member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, is scheduled to speak. The meeting is open to the public at 11:30 am - program begins at noon. Reservations are not required. Buffet lunch is $20 and an annual membership in the club is only $25. It should be a very interesting meeting. Senator Inhofe has mentioned “impeachment” of President Obama for an “orchestrated cover-up” recently in a radio interview on the Rusty Humphries Show. Politico has more with audio of the interview, click here to reach that posting and plan to attend the luncheon for more.
