Dear Fellow Oklahoma Republicans,
Opinion: It is time we put the OKGOP in sleep mode. This doesn’t mean we are excused from participation in the current election cycle to help candidates of good character, expose those who fail public trust, and stand for traditional values in gracious debate. But we don’t need the OKGOP. We can be powerful individually and locally to establish and grow circles of influence to save America.
Family, friends, neighbors and associates need to know. The choice is Trump or chaos represented by National Democrats of criminal intent – whoever the figurehead. Long ago they betrayed Oklahoma Democrats, but that is another story.
The elephant in our pocket is the missing money we held during Donald J. Trump’s term. Every policy of the current administration has failed America. There are many examples and no question: inflation is a direct result of government policy, criminal invaders are killing our children, leftist cities are crumbling, public education has become trendy indoctrination absent merit, lawfare threatens everyone, and the Biden Administration has begun WW III. That’s enough.
Don’t count on our OKGOP for help. It’s been a train-wreck for a dozen years. While grassroots have ground troops, the grass tops (establishment cosmopolitans) fund the effort and neither are motivated to participate or donate to continual internal crisis.
I identify as a Traditional Republican loyal to God and Country. Tulsa is home. Oklahoma is my community. Oklahoma is the official body standing between my family and the ever-over-reaching Federal Government. I judge by character not color, demand equal application of law, honorable public service, and acknowledge there are only two genders – all else is behavior.
It is time to get busy. Not just in calling for others to act, but to engage personally. To that belief, I have recently begun a monthly discussion group that will meet next Friday for breakfast (area Conservatives are welcome, email david@tulsatoday.com for the private location details). I hope others step out to organize in every part of the State. We don’t need the OKGOP to make a difference in Oklahoma for America.
I write on Substack primarily for a statewide audience and on Tulsa Today for the metro market. I include competing sides in public issue debates. Your public or private comments are encouraged, subscriptions welcomed free. Paid subscriptions support the work and to launch a planned Oklahoma podcast interview show.
At a recent alumni event, one former classmate leaned in and opened a conversation with, “Trump’s NASTY.” Apparently, his last piece of news was from eight years ago of a private conversation using a word both men and women use in private. He did not know about Hunter Biden’s laptop detailing the crackhead’s whore-mongering, the millions of Biden family grifting from China and Ukraine among other nations, or Ashley Biden’s court documented personal diary declaring her father, President Joe Biden, repeatedly showered with her – his own prepubescent daughter – how twisted and nasty is that?
National Democrats (and media lackeys) should be charged under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act but I digress. Our job is local.
Back to the current state of the Oklahoma Party, OKGOP Convention Attendees were betrayed in the last-minute filing for chairman by State Senator Nathan Dahm. While many agree with Dahm’s ideology, his administration of this private, voluntary, donation-dependent organization has killed the party. Personally cold and aloof, Dahm’s methods of party operation are authoritarian.
Authoritarian leadership is ludicrous in a voluntary organization. Volunteers freely walk and take their checkbooks with them. Dahm has little to no experience managing people. He doesn’t communicate with anyone outside a small circle of devotees and directs attacks on his opponents. He twists rules to booster control but does not control the majority of the Oklahoma Republican State Committee, the supreme authority as detailed in the organization’s adopted rules. The Dahm Disaster will resolve in 2025 or before as the State Committee may vote.
The Oklahoma Republican challenge today is to be our own party. Act locally for our nation and pray good people statewide do the same. Have a coffee. Talk among friends.
Consider the Eurythmics song, “Sweet Dreams” for a current OKGOP theme song:
Sweet Dreams are made of this, who am I to disagree
I’ve traveled the world and the seven seas, everybody’s looking for something
Some of them want to use you, some of them want to be used by you…
The call for action later in the song is empowering.
Hold your head up, movin’ on, keep your head up, movin’ on
Yes, we may not be organized or united statewide, but Oklahoma Republicans are courageous individualists as proven over the last hundred plus years. Indians, industrialists, outlaws, hopeful settlers of many races, farmers, ranchers, oil field workers, merchants, and some of the richest in America began fortunes here (J.Paul Getty as one example).
We can win on merit if we make the case. Trump or Chaos, Free Enterprise or Indentured Slavery, Constitution or Crime the choices are clear. All our neighbors need to hear from us – heads up, moving on.

The grassroots are crawling up the legs of the OKGOP "leaders" like a righteously angry vine. You love to see it.
Hello, do you have any take on the Tulsa mayoral race? GOP roster doesn't look very impressive and the local party officials seem to be focusing entirely on their trip to the national convention.
